THE ARTIST STORYTHE OSMONDS.LEES HET VERHAAL

That screeching opening of Crazy Horses remains a magnificent ambush. Even before the vocals kick in, it becomes clear just how much noise The Osmonds could pack. The brothers from Utah had honed their harmonies for years for television. In the early seventies, they showed what happened when that precision was unleashed on a heavy rock band.

Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay Osmond began singing together as young brothers in Ogden, Utah. Through performances at Disneyland, they ended up in The Andy Williams Show in 1962. Donny joined them as a child. Performing weekly meant constantly learning new material, playing instruments, and responding as a group. That craftsmanship formed the basis of their later pop records.

In 1971, One Bad Apple became an American number one. The song bounces on its rhythm, with vocals that propel each other forward and a chorus that sticks in your head immediately. Merrill and Donny give that cheerful exterior different colors. Here you hear a group that knows how to hold attention for just a few minutes.
