Behind SJELF is me, Danny. I build the website, use my SEO expertise to make sure you can find SJELF, and share the stories on the site and social media. But it all starts with one thing: my love for the album.

Not just that one hit. Also that unknown track on side B. The opening, the progression, and the final song. A record deserves to be heard in its entirety.

GIVE THE ALBUM YOUR TIME.

With SJELF, I want to invite people to listen to an album from start to finish once again. Including a new generation, who may primarily discover music through individual tracks and short snippets.

An artist has put thought into an album. About which songs are on it, how they follow one another, and where the story ends. By not skipping ahead, you give those choices space to breathe. Perhaps the song you would normally skip turns out to be the track that sticks with you the longest.

You don't have to love every album. But give it the time to surprise you.

MAKE ROOM FOR MUSIC.

For me, that means more than just an empty spot on your record shelf.

Make room in your home. In your schedule. And in your mind.

Put your phone away for a while. Put on a record. Sit down and listen. Not while you’re trying to do five other things, but simply for the music itself. From the first note to the silence at the end.

That is why I started SJELF.
