THE POGUES.

The Pogues combines folk sounds with a direct, raw band energy. The melodies can move exuberantly, while the vocals tell a story with a distinctly personal touch. Various instruments respond to one another over a solid rhythm. The songs allow humor, longing, and melancholy to coexist without losing their physical momentum.

Discovering The Pogues on vinyl gives space to the stories alongside the sing-along appeal. A LP preserves the alternation between fast passages and more sustained melodies. Pay attention to the instrumental interplay as well: it is precisely the interactions between the parts that reveal how a familiar song form can gain energy and emotional weight time and again.

A vinyl album gives the songs a fixed order and a tangible place in your collection. Give the lesser-known tracks time as well, and follow the transitions within a side of the record.
