BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

Nicolas Jaar treats electronic music as a space in which time can stretch. A bass figure or rhythmic detail holds the movement, while voices, ambient sound, and melodic fragments come in and out of view. The music can be danceable but does not constantly demand a fixed beat or an immediate climax. This creates a listening experience in which a subtle change in sound can take on just as much meaning as an entirely new theme.

His solo work stands alongside DARKSIDE, the project with Dave Harrington, and reveals a different emphasis on montage and texture. An album like Pomegranates invites the listener to follow the progression as a whole. Attention then shifts from individual songs to the way passages interact with one another. On vinyl, this form provides a natural incentive to linger longer on a single side and consciously take in the transitions.

Nicolas Jaar on LP suits a collection of adventurous electronica, ambient, and music that does not remain entirely within a single genre. Listen to the silences and to sounds that start in the background but later determine the direction. With a combined physical release like Piedras 1 & 2, the Spotify pairing requires extra care: one digital part does not automatically represent the entire double LP. The product page on SJELF describes the specific execution, and the confirmed listening link remains connected to the correct release.
