MEN AT WORK.

Men at Work makes pop that becomes recognizable through small idiosyncrasies. A guitar riff, a saxophone line, or an unexpected vocal accent can be enough to give a song its own character. Beneath the accessible choruses lies a band that carefully tunes rhythm and arrangement. The music can sound light, but also carries moments of unease and melancholy.

Business as Usual is a clear entry point to that approach. On vinyl LP, you hear the well-known singles alongside the other songs, giving the album more breadth than a nostalgic hit selection. Their Ultimate Collection, on the other hand, offers an overview based on various tracks. Both listening paths have their value: one follows the structure of a studio album, the other makes connections through the repertoire.

For lovers of melodic pop-rock, Men at Work is a logical addition to their record collection. The routes to Crowded House and INXS open up other forms of band pop from a related musical environment.
