BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

Kane knows how a small beginning can carry a big chorus. The band plays with a sense of space; the vocals remain recognizable, even when the guitars fill the entire soundscape.

Kane presented a recognizable Dutch interpretation of English-language rock: grand in gesture, with a voice that remains personal even in the midst of a heavy arrangement. Dinand Woesthoff and Dennis van Leeuwen found a form in which tense verses and expansive choruses reinforce each other. That transition from intimate to grand determines much of the band's appeal.

Together, the albums tell a more extensive story than a collection of hits. So Glad You Made It, Everything You Want, and Come Together showcase different facets of that sound; Exit & Entrances adds a later chapter to it. On vinyl, you can follow those changes in the order in which the songs are placed on a LP. The quieter passages give the guitars more weight when they re-enter.

A Kane-LP therefore suits both lovers of accessible rock and listeners who pay attention to the structure of an album. Behind the stage feel lie melodies, rhythmic shifts, and moments where the vocals are given plenty of space. View the releases below to choose a period or to listen to two records side by side. The product pages list the format and available version for each vinyl edition.

So Glad You Made It marks the band's first major movement. Come Together demonstrates how Kane continued working with that familiar sound later on.

The 2000s sketches the era in which that music reached many listeners. The records are situated between rock and pop, with a clear eye for the song.

From Kane you can go to DI-RECT and Racoon for other Dutch bands, or to Golden Earring for a longer guitar tradition. Chef’Special and Anouk open up other stage sounds.
