BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

DI-RECT evolved from a young guitar band into a group that dares to make a grand gesture. The music can start hard, but also finds room for doubt and a melody that sticks.

Start with Daydreams In A Blackout and then listen to Sphinx. The two records demonstrate how the band changes the sound without losing the power of the interplay.

DI-RECT allows a melody to grow within a band sound in which various instruments truly move together. The vocals can keep a quiet passage close and then give a chorus a larger scale. Guitar, keyboards, and rhythm do more than just accompany: a small reaction can give the entire song a new color.

On LP, you can follow the alternation between full arrangements and open moments. Turn to one side and also listen to the material that doesn't immediately build to a major climax. It is precisely there that the interplay becomes audible. A live record places different accents than a studio record, but the sense of structure and melodic coherence remains a clear entry point.

Di-rect's artistic story follows that development closely. Their records move between rock and alternative rock, with a live energy that remains palpable in the studio.

For other Dutch guitar voices, Kane, Golden Earring, and Racoon are ready. Chef’Special and De Staat demonstrate how freely a band can handle its own sound.
