METALCORE / ALTERNATIVE ROCK

Bring Me the Horizon places heavy guitars, electronics, and big choruses in the same space. A song can start sharp and restless and moments later break open into a melody that sticks.

Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season demonstrate different forms of musical pressure. The guitars, drums, and vocals respond quickly to one another; a rhythmic shift can change the entire direction of a song.

On Sempiternal, the melody gets more space between those heavy movements. That's the Spirit lays down the choruses broadly. Listen to how the keyboards can support the guitar without playing the same thing.

Through metalcore and alternative rock, you can listen further to the interplay between weight, vocals, and production. Amo explicitly allows electronic patterns to participate in that conversation.

Linkin Park share a focus on the interplay of electronics and a grand refrain; Deftones create a different space between heaviness and atmosphere. Slipknot, Evanescence, and Paramore each lend their own color to the tension between outburst and melody.

Post Human: Nex Gen places rapid shifts and small production details close together. Follow the sounds behind the vocals: they often already prepare the next shift.

Bring Me the Horizon on vinyl reveals the balance between weight and melody across an entire side of the record. Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season feature a different musical environment than Sempiternal or That’s the Spirit. Amo and the Post Human editions give electronics and production details a different role yet again. A LP makes it appealing to follow those albums individually, paying attention to the transitions, the quiet passages, and the sudden outbursts. Listen to the sounds behind the vocals: they can foreshadow a shift before the guitars come in big.
