THE COMPOSER.

HANS ZIMMER.

MUSIC. STORIES.
DISCOVER.

Hans Zimmer writes music that gives a film scene its own rhythm. Sometimes the tension begins with a single note, sometimes an orchestra comes to life.

A WORLD IN SOUND.

For Hans Zimmer, a score does not revolve solely around a recognizable theme. A sound, a pulse, or a slowly growing layer can carry the entire film. Electronic and acoustic instruments intertwine. As a result, his music sometimes feels physical: you follow not just a melody, but also a movement.

THE PRESSURE OF TIME

Dunkirk makes time and tension audible. The music keeps pushing, even when there seems to be little room for a classical melody. Listen to the build-up and recurring patterns without the film. What coincides with editing in the cinema becomes a tension arc of its own on record.

A SCORE IS ALSO COLLABORATION.

Gladiator was created with Lisa Gerrard; for The Dark Knight, Zimmer collaborated with James Newton Howard. Those names belong to the story. A soundtrack is often the result of multiple musical voices, even when one composer is the best known.

FROM STUDIO TO STAGE.

Hans Zimmer Live presents the film repertoire in a concert setting. That is a different performance from the original soundtrack. Both can add something to your collection, but they are different records. Discover more creators in THE COMPOSERS. and their cinematic worlds in THE SOUNDTRACK.
