Starting Wednesday, September 30, 2026, mornings at SJELF will begin with THE DAILY SPIN. In this new Dutch music podcast, we take you through the story of one artist or band every weekday at 6:00 AM. The music, the people behind it, and the records you want to hear again take center stage. You can already listen to the trailer on Spotify.
THE COFFEE IS BLACK. THE DAY IS STILL A BLANK SLATE.
There is something special about that first moment of the day. The coffee is ready, the world outside is slowly waking up, and there is still space to get lost in something for a while. THE DAILY SPIN gives that moment a musical story. A short episode for the kitchen table, on your way to work, or during that first walk.
The standard greeting sets the tone: “The coffee is black. The day is still a blank slate. And the first spin is on us.” After that, we introduce the artist featured that morning and discuss what appeals to us about their music. Sometimes that starts with a melody, sometimes with a voice or a rhythm that still strikes a chord after all these years.
ONE ARTIST, WITH ROOM FOR THE STORY.
Every episode begins with the people behind the music. Where does the artist come from? Who is in the band? And how did the sound you might now recognize in a thousand tracks come to be? From that background, the story naturally leads toward the albums and the tracks.
You will hear which records were important, where the success came from, and which details make a recording special. A bassline that carries the whole track, a surprising transition, or a small moment in the vocals can be enough to make you listen differently. Musical expertise is not required. Curiosity, however, is.
At the end, we always leave you with one track to listen to for the rest of the day. That way, the story continues after the episode has finished. Put it on during your break, look up the record at home, or listen with fresh attention to something you have known for years.
