THE RECORD.

The National Anthem immediately makes the bass figure the focal point. What is surrounded by a dense arrangement in the studio takes on the pressure of a band standing together in rhythm here. I Might Be Wrong loosens that movement, with a guitar figure to which the other instruments constantly respond. Morning Bell then demonstrates how an unusual rhythmic form can still become a natural band movement.

The most striking perspective comes from Like Spinning Plates. The piano form makes a melodic core audible that is harder to grasp in the studio version. Idioteque retains its electronics, but the performance tension gives the repetition extra urgency. Everything in Its Right Place stretches the relationship between voice and sound. At the end, True Love Waits scales down again: acoustic guitar, vocals, and space. That contrast makes this short live collection more than proof that the studio songs were performable.

The value lies in the shift in focus. You might know the sounds of Kid A and Amnesiac; here you hear how the players turn them into a collective movement. Like Spinning Plates shows how a song can emerge from behind its studio treatment, while True Love Waits adds a very different intimacy.
