X AMBASSADORS.

Sam and Casey Harris grew up in Ithaca, in the American state of New York. They made music together from a young age. After moving to New York City, drummer Adam Levin joined them. Guitarist Noah Feldshuh was part of the early lineup; later, the band continued as a trio.

X Ambassadors builds songs in which a recognizable voice and a clear melody move towards a larger collective moment. The accompaniment can start small and gradually gain more rhythmic pressure or instrumental layers. Rock sensibility and pop form support each other. A chorus derives its strength from this preparation, while the vocals leave room for a personal tone within the broader band sound.

Discovering X Ambassadors on vinyl gives the album tracks attention beyond the best-known singles. A LP juxtaposes different moods and makes the transitions part of the story. Also listen to the rhythmic accents and background vocals: their contribution determines how a melody expands and how the band builds tension around a direct chorus.

A vinyl album gives the music a fixed order and a tangible place in your collection. Give the lesser-known pieces time as well, and follow the transitions within a side of the record.

Early original work, including Litost, was released under the name Ambassadors. The move to X Ambassadors coincided with a broader range. The sound evolved from a band with guitars, keyboards, and drums into a combination that also incorporates electronic rhythms and influences from soul and hip-hop.

In 2015, VHS was released, featuring Renegades and Unsteady. The album reached number seven on the US Billboard album chart. The songs are instantly recognizable, but they employ different means.
