THE THE.

The The creates pop and rock in which the lyrics maintain a distinctly personal presence. The voice can speak directly, while rhythm and arrangement add a different undertone. Electronic colors and instrumental parts take on different roles. As a result, a recognizable melody need not become reassuring: the song can leave room for doubt, sharpness, and unease.

Listening to The The on vinyl makes the album context important. A LP allows the stories and changing timbres to find their place sequentially. Pay attention to the accompaniment as well: a different rhythmic movement or a small harmonic shift can change the meaning of a phrase and maintain the tension across an entire side of the record.

A vinyl album gives the songs a fixed order and a tangible place in your collection. Give the lesser-known tracks time as well, and follow the transitions within a side of the record.
