TESTAMENT.

Testament gives thrash metal a sharp rhythmic form and plenty of melodic movement in the guitars. The riffs can be heavy and fast, while a solo opens up other lines above the band. The vocals maintain a pronounced presence without displacing the interplay. Speed, groove, and harmonic color each take on their own role.

Discovering Testament on vinyl makes the album order important. A LP preserves the alternation between fast attacks and heavier, more sustained passages. Pay attention to the bass and drums as well: their accents determine how a riff comes in and how much room the guitars get to develop a song further.

A vinyl album gives the songs a fixed order and a tangible place in your collection. Give the lesser-known tracks time as well, and follow the transitions within a side of the record.
