ROXY MUSIC.

Roxy Music combines a pop sensibility with a taste for unusual sounds and theatrical presentation. Bryan Ferry keeps the melody recognizable, while the instruments sometimes deliberately seek a different direction. Guitar, saxophone, and keyboards can add both shine and unrest. As a result, the music remains accessible without every detail immediately revealing itself.

For Your Pleasure, Stranded, and Country Life offer different entry points into that interplay. Those listening to Roxy Music on vinyl can follow the evolution across complete LPs: the experimental accents and the more streamlined songs each find their own setting. Additionally, a compilation offers an overview, with a different order and emphasis.

The connection with Brian Eno provides a further entry point into the early band, while related artists showcase other forms of art-pop. When listening, also include the less direct passages. It is precisely there that it becomes clear how Roxy Music uses a familiar melodic form as a starting point for a distinctive vinyl experience.
