BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

Overmono makes electronic music work both physically and emotionally. Brothers Tom and Ed Russell connect broken rhythms with bass lines, short vocal fragments, and melodies that slowly unfold. The tracks can propel a dance floor forward, but also have a contemplative side. A small vocal detail or a shifted accent can change the atmosphere of an entire song.

Good Lies provides a clear entry point into that combination of club energy and emotion. The album order demonstrates how the different rhythms and textures complement one another. On vinyl, the tracks take a fixed place, meaning the transitions and quieter passages also demand attention. A LP thus offers a different listening attitude than constantly selecting the next standalone dance track: you follow the movement the duo themselves have built up.

Overmono on vinyl fits well with a collection where UK garage, breakbeats, and electronic pop intersect. When looking at the available records, note the difference between an album, EP, and remix release; length and repertoire partly determine how you listen to the record. The right Spotify album link helps to explore the music beforehand. Then listen to a full side and follow how a vocal snippet, a rhythmic interruption, and a recurring melody create tension together.
