THE ORB.

The Orb creates electronic music in which rhythmic patterns and spatial sounds slowly shift in proportion. Vocal fragments and small melodic ideas can form a recognizable point within a larger landscape. The music leaves room for repetition and unexpected detours. A track develops not only through new layers, but also through what temporarily disappears.

Listening to the The Orb on vinyl requires time for the entire side of the record. A LP allows the transition between a pronounced beat and more open soundscapes to build gradually. Pay attention to background sounds and echoes as well: their place in the arrangement can give a repeated pattern a different sense of movement and distance each time.

A vinyl album gives the songs a fixed order and a tangible place in your collection. Give the lesser-known tracks time as well, and follow the transitions within a side of the record.
