ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER.

Oneohtrix Point Never is the project of Daniel Lopatin, a musician who likes to take recognizable sounds out of their familiar environment. A synthesizer can almost become a melody, a voice transforms into material, and a memory of pop music appears as a strange fragment. His work turns electronics into a world where clarity and alienation coexist. It invites one to follow the unfinished and the unexpected as well.

The albums have a distinct logic of their own, even when a track deviates from a conventional verse and chorus. Textures, abrupt transitions, and recurring motifs connect the parts. On a LP, you hear such choices in a fixed order. Vinyl fits in here primarily as a way to keep attention focused on the entire record: a fragment that seems enigmatic in isolation sometimes only gains meaning through what precedes it.

For collectors of ambient, IDM, and experimental electronica, Oneohtrix Point Never offers a repertoire that is unlikely to be exhausted quickly. Compare the available vinyl albums by period and soundscape, as each record emphasizes different aspects. Then, allow the music space without immediately attempting to explain every passage. The details in the production and the shifting balance between melody and noise often make a second listen different from the first.
