MOSS.

Moss makes pop that can sound as natural as it is elusive. Behind the melodies sits a band that must reinvent itself time and again to move forward together.

BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

Moss is the Dutch indie band centered around Marien Dorleijn. The songs combine clear melodies with guitar parts, rhythms, and layers of sound that can provide an unexpected direction. The vocals maintain a recognizable line, while the band's sound changes in proportion from album to album.

The band started in 2003. After The Long Way Back from 2007, the breakthrough followed with Never Be Scared / Don’t Be a Hero from 2009. I Apologise (Dear Simon) and I Like the Chemistry are among the well-known entry points to that phase.

Ornaments (2012), We Both Know the Rest Is Noise (2014), and Strike (2017) place different accents between electronics, repetition, and song form. HX (2022) originated in Hoogcruts, with producer Arne van Petegem and the returning Bob Gibson. The band worked with six players during that period.

Lost in Motion has been announced for November 6, 2026. The new album deals with aging, changing, and staying connected. The available pre-orders and released editions are listed below with their respective order statuses.

Start with HX for the combination of clarity, movement, and melancholy. The ARTIST STORY follows the broader development; the ALBUM STORY delves deeper into the creative process and the twelve songs.

De Staat is a related route for those who want to follow the rhythmic and idiosyncratic side of a Dutch band. Blaudzun offers a different entry point via vocals, melody, and a rich band sound.
