MF DOOM.

MF DOOM makes rap in which language and rhythm constantly take unexpected turns. Rhymes don't just appear at the end of a line: they can pile up in the middle of a sentence and give the beat a different movement. His voice often remains dry and controlled, while the lyrics are full of references, roles, and little surprises. The productions showcase the same curiosity, with samples that retain their own ragged character.

Operation: Doomsday, MM.FOOD, and Born Like This offer different album routes through that work. The Special Herbs series highlights the instrumental side and the world of Metal Fingers. On vinyl-LP, you can follow the beats as standalone music or listen to the way the rap moves over them. Moreover, the coherence of a record gives the short sketches and transitions more meaning.

A MF DOOM-LP suits collectors who enjoy listening to hip-hop repeatedly and constantly seek a new connection. Via Madlib and Wu-Tang Clan, related routes open up through samples and idiosyncratic voices. Compare the various albums and instrumental releases at SJELF, with their separate Spotify album links.
