BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

IDLES throws the door open with a drumbeat and a voice that doesn't beat around the bush. But those who listen longer hear vulnerability and care alongside the anger. That makes this band from Bristol interesting beyond the first chorus.

On vinyl, IDLES clearly demonstrates that playing hard and listening hard are different things. A guitar can grind while the drums remain remarkably controlled; Joe Talbot's voice can break a rule without the band losing its balance. Anyone who lets the LP run through an entire side will hear how small choices in tempo, space, and repetition prepare the ground for the major outbursts.

Brutalism and Joy as an Act of Resistance give different forms to that direct energy. CRAWLER makes the landscape more restless and less predictable, while TANGK adds other colors and rhythmic movements. Pay attention not only to the attack of the guitars, but also to the bass beneath a quiet passage. That often keeps the body of the song intact when the surface changes.

A studio album and the soundtrack Caught Stealing each open a distinct listening path. The soundtrack is part of a cinematic commission; the studio LP follows the tension arc of the band itself. Therefore, view the title and performance of each product page. You can follow the development via the existing Artist Story, and via Fontaines D.C. and Joy Division, hear how other bands organize rhythm, lyrics, and tension.

FROM BRUTALISM TO CRAWLER.

The debut Brutalism sounds nervous and direct. On Joy as an Act of Resistance, the venue almost becomes part of the songs: a harsh sound that also seeks cohesion. CRAWLER, on the other hand, turns inward. The two pressings of Joy and the other available records are listed below. The soundtrack Caught Stealing stands apart from the five studio albums.
