GOOSE.

Goose features a band playing with the pace of an electronic track. The rhythm sets the direction, but the instruments leave enough room to surprise.

GOOSE is the Belgian band here that combines electronics with the interplay of a rock group. A tight rhythm sets the direction, but the instruments leave enough room for the music to breathe. Synthesizers can drive both the bass and the melodic tension. As a result, the songs acquire the direct movement of dance music, while small changes in arrangement and dynamics continue to reveal the character of a band.

Endless serves as the gateway to GOOSE on vinyl for SJELF. The LP invites you to follow a rhythmic idea longer than the first recognizable hook. Pay attention to what happens beneath the vocals: a sound that briefly recedes or a figure that returns with a different accent can shift the entire passage. These details make the album interesting even outside a club setting, provided you have the space to follow the interplay attentively.

Playing a vinyl record keeps the sequence of tracks intact. This allows the music to gradually build up its energy and then let it subside. A smaller passage gives the next major moment more meaning. For those seeking the connection between electronic production and live music, this is a good listening route: first follow the pulse, then the layers above it, and finally hear how all the parts together form one continuous movement.

Soulwax's Artist Story offers a related Belgian route between band and beat. Electro and rock also come together in Goose.

Soulwax, Technotronic, and Front 242 focus on electronics. Balthazar and Triggerfinger let the band sound speak in a different way.
