BEHIND THE RECORDS.

THE ARTIST.

De Dijk plays as if a song is only complete when it holds up on stage. Huub van der Lubbe, the brass section, and the rhythm give Dutch lyrics both warmth and momentum.

Nooit Meer Tarzan demonstrates how heavily a chorus can lean on a groove. Nooit Genoeg opens another recognizable gateway to a band that consistently places interplay at the center.

A LP by De Dijk revolves around the encounter between the Dutch word and a band that has soul and blues at its fingertips. The vocals are allowed to tell a story, hesitate, and sometimes grate. Beneath it all, guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums move as if the story is directing them directly. A brass accent can instantly amplify the sentiment of a verse.

Pay attention to the less exuberant songs as well. They demonstrate how much a slight shift in rhythm or a subdued vocal line can do. On vinyl, they provide a counterweight to the full choruses. A collection places well-known songs side by side; an original album primarily shows how the band maintains a mood across multiple tracks.

On Brussel and Allemansplein, that band sound once again finds its own environment. The catalog remains connected by the way vocals, rhythm section, and brass make a story move together.

The Dutch lyrics place the group within Nederpop, while the band's punch leans towards rock. Soul and blues form an audible undercurrent.

The collaboration with Solomon Burke took shape on Hold On Tight. Read the existing album story for that encounter. BLØF offers a different route featuring Dutch lyrics and a full band sound.

In the Artist Story, the long development of De Dijk is given more space. Choose a studio album below and listen to how a song can retain the energy of a performance, even without an audience.
